How art helped Angela through bereavement

A National Lottery-funded project in her hometown of Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, helped Angela get her sparkle back, after years of battling severe anxiety and depression following the death of her husband and then, in a car accident, her grandson.

Changing Lives is a series of stories about people’s whose lives have been changed by National Lottery-funded projects. Changing Lives is a project we feel really proud to have been able to share with a wider audience.

Angela Stearn was helped through grieving for her husband and her grandson by a project that took her back to her interest in art and gardening. It was humbling to meet this woman who had been through so much and very special to hear her story.

We filmed at her house and then went to the allotments where Create & Flourish help other people with mental health difficulties find a way back. It was again a hot day- we certainly seem to be lucky with weather for our filming!

This film about Angela was chosen to be featured on the National Lottery’s Facebook live broadcast where they announce the winning numbers.  It is one of the films Harvest Creative have made for HLF over the past few years – watch the others here.
